DARPA - game developer?

I wanted to share something that I thought was really interesting.  DARPA - the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - has developed a series of games which will allow them to use crowd sourcing as a means of scanning millions of line of code for software vulnerabilities.  You can read about it in depth in this article from Computer World -

I point this out because the last Titans event from NVTC featured DARPA director Arati Prabhakar, who discussed a number of interesting projects that the agency was pushing forward.  Another point that Prabhakar made was that we as a tech industry need to find a way to lower the cost of this research and practical implementation.  I was fortunate enough to be able to ask a question and suggested crowd sourcing as a way to lower project costs.  I'm not saying that my suggestion was the impetus for DARPA putting together a crowd sourcing initiative, but I will leave it there for you to consider.  g14media influencing the influencers at DARPA?  ….could be...

What are your producers using?

Below is an interesting survey from PBS on the type of gear that production teams are using.  This primarily focuses on documentary projects, but this carries over into a wide variety of different production work.  One of the things that I think is interesting is 80% of production houses surveyed use Dropbox as a way to transfer, share, and deliver files.  We fall into this category too, because we've found Dropbox to be an easy and flexible system for sharing and delivering video.  If you haven't tried it, we encourage you to check it out.  In the meantime, take a look at the graphic on the type of tools that your production house may be using.

Welcome

Welcomes to our new g14media site.  We think that it's simpler, cleaner, easier to navigate and it gives you a clear idea of the type of work that we do.   

We plan on using the blog as a visual sketchbook.  That means that we'll put up design, opinions, pictures, video, and whatever inspires us.  We can't promise that we'll update it often (we get pretty busy) but we do hope that it'll be interesting when we do.  If nothing else, it will give you an idea of how we think and create.
